2016: Year of Service

We have dedicated 2016 as the Choir’s Year of Service with a theme that focuses on the two of the Choir’s Core Values: Prayer and Excellence.

2016 Kick-off Event | We opened the year with our annual Kick-off Party which was held last January 31, 2016 at the St. Paul Hall of the Sta. Maria Della Strada Parish. It was a “Black & White”-Themed Party reminiscent of the piano keys that bring colorful melodies when played together.  It is a reminder that each of us, despite our own individualities and unique personalities, can create beautiful music and inspiring stories when we work together.

46th Anniversary | We celebrated the PANSOL Choir’s 46th Anniversary last February 14, 2016. We offered our Sunday Mass Service that day thanking God for all the blessings that the Choir has received for the past 46 years with the ever-burning commitment to continue serving, inspiring, nurturing, giving back and singing for the greater glory of His Name.

Feast Day of Nuestra Senora de la Paz y Buenviaje | Last February 21, 2016, we celebrated the Feast of Nuestra Senora de la Paz y Buenviaje, Patroness of Brgy. Pansol. It was a day full of festivities and moments to spend with family and friends and the entire Pansol Community.

Lent/Easter Activities | Every year, we commemorate and celebrate Christ’s Passion, Death and Resurrection with our annual Visita Iglesia and our participation in the Holy Week activities of the SMDS Parish.

Camp Harmony 2016 | The PANSOL Choir’s Camp Harmony is an annual event that aims to foster the spirit of teamwork, collaboration and friendship among our members. We held the Camp Harmony 2016 last May 21-22, 2016 at the Nongayan Beach Resort, Iba, Zambales. The event was filled with fun activities and games as well as fitness, music and cultural awareness.

Retreat/Spiritual Renewal | Our annual Retreat and Recollection gives our members the opportunity to spend time in prayer and self-reflection and deepen our relationship with God. Last September 17-18, 2016, we conducted our retreat at the Plana’s Rest House, Alfonso, Cavite. We had Fr. Vic Caritos as our retreat master who generously shared his time and provided spiritual guidance to all of us. Our theme was based on Matthew 5:48, “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect” and focused on two of our Core Values: Prayer and Excellence.

Student Scholarship Program | In 2016, we launched our Scholarship Program for Student Members. The Program aims to provide financial aid to our deserving Student Members in their educational and school needs. We started with 2 of our student members with the objective of increasing the number of grantees as we continue to build our scholarship fund.

Sunday Mass Services | We regularly serve at the Sta. Maria Della Strada Parish every Sunday and at the Pansol Chapel every 3rd Sunday of the month. Singing in Eucharistic Services has been a great opportunity for us to stay committed to our mission of serving God and share our talents. Together, we continue to advance the Choir’s apostolic and liturgical mission in songs.

SMDS Music Ministry | Belonging to a bigger community that serves in the Parish is both a privilege and a commitment that we will always be thankful for. In 2016, the PANSOL Choir actively participated in the activities and services of the SMDS Music Ministry, such as:

  • Lent, Holy Week and Easter Church activities

  • Mass Services on the Feast of Sta. Maria Della Strada Parish

  • Harana para kay Maria

  • Kasalang Bayan/Parokya

  • Commissioning of Liturgical Ministers

  • Advent and Christmas Church activities

  • SMDS Grand Choir Christmas Mini-concert

Outreach Program | We conduct various Outreach Programs and Volunteer Work for several beneficiaries. Last August 13, 2016, we visited the House of Refuge (HOR) in Quezon City.  The HOR cares for children who were abandoned, orphaned, neglected or mistreated by their respective parents and aims to provide an environment where they can grow up happy and become equipped and ready for the future life outside. It was a day of gift-giving, fun games and music. The joy that we shared together with the children even for a short while made our day extra special.

Choir Rehearsals | To continuously hone our choral skills, we regularly conduct rehearsals every week. Singing together has also been a great bonding moment for all of us. Rehearsals do not only allow us to develop our musical skills but also our relationship with one another.

Health and Fitness Program | We recognize the importance and connection of staying healthy and fit to our overall singing ability. Hence, we conducted sports and fitness activities for our members such as badminton games and zumba sessions.

PC Website Launch | Last June 12, 2016, we launched our official website to help our current and potential members and mission partners get to know us better.  We created an online platform that can help us carryout our mission and engage others to partner with us in this mission.

All Hallows’ Eve Party | It has recently become our tradition to celebrate Halloween with a simple get-together in bizarre make-up and costumes. Dressed according to our selected Movie, we had our Halloween Party last October 29, 2016 at El Jardin Del Presidente 2 Condominium with the theme, “At the Movies: The PANSOL Choir’s All Hallows Eve Party”.

Advent and Christmas Activities | The Choir is at its busiest time towards the end of the year with our mass services for the Simbang Gabi and, of course, with our annual caroling activities and Christmas special performances. Proceeds from our caroling activities and special performances are intended to finance the Choir’s programs, projects and activities in the following year.

Member Incentive and Financial Assistance Program | Recognizing the hardwork and dedication of each members, we enhanced our Incentive Program allowing them to earn when they participate in Choir wedding and other singing engagements. We also seek ways to support and provide financial assistance to our members especially in times of emergencies.

Weddings and Other Celebrations | Throughout the year, we have been blessed with friends and clients who engaged and trusted us to be part of their special moments and celebrations in their lives. We sang in a number of Eucharistic Celebrations for weddings, thanksgiving, and necrological/memorial services during the year. These engagements also allowed us to visit other churches such as:

  • St. Alphonsus Mary de Lougini Church in Magallanes,

  • San Roque Chapel in Subic,

  • Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Cubao,

  • Notre Dame De Vie Chapel in Muntinlupa,

  • Church of the Holy Sacrifice in UP Diliman, and

  • Ina ng Laging Saklolo Church in Tagaytay City.

Special Performances | Sharing the gift of music with everyone is a passion to which we have committed ourselves together. Through choral music, we are given the opportunity to positively touch other people’s lives.

In 2016, we were fortunate to share our gift of music through special performances in the following:

  • LNK Homecoming Congress,

  • House of Refuge Outreach Program,

  • Qubiertos Grill and Restaurant in Balara,

  • B Hotel in Quezon City,

  • Diamond Hotel in Roxas Boulevard,

  • East Avenue Medical Center – Hemodialysis Unit, and

  • Luxent Hotel in Quezon City.
